Hello, everyone!
I wanted to introduce you to someone, who’s blog I find quite educational. I’m not talking about algebra here. No, no! I’m talking about the complex, ever-so-exciting world of delicious beer.

This is Emiliano Vazquez-Parrales. He knows good beer and is excited to talk about it in his new blog “The Evening Grog”. He plans on taking Chicago – one pint at a time.
Emiliano loves good brews, but he’s not what you would call a “beer snob”. “I would still have a Bud light, if it’s there”, he told me when I sat down with him for a chat.
In his blog Emiliano says that he has been developing his own beer palate since the day he turned 21. He still has the empty bottle of Matilda – his first legal drink, sitting up on on a shelf. I never thought of it, otherwise I’d keep my first “trophy” on a pedestal too.
Since that first beer, Emiliano has devoted his free time and his blog to educating people about beer. In “The Evening Grog” he writes about new beers on the market, and the new bars in town that serve them.
According to Emiliano, the main focus of his blog is “smaller breweries, that people haven’t really heard of.” However, he will review some of the seasonal beers made by the larger, well-known companies. He believes that beer helps people loosen up. “It’s a social lubricant,” and “it tastes better when you are with other people,” says Emiliano .
While I was pregnant with Sofie I found it a bit difficult to go out to dinner with my husband, and order a seltzer water with my food. I didn’t want to feel left out. It wasn’t until the third trimester when I discovered the world of Non- alcoholic beer. Of course, at that point my belly was definitely noticeable, so I’d get the occasional dirty look from people. I asked Emiliano what he thought about Non-Al beers , and he said that some of them taste just as good as the regular beer. He thinks that even people who are unable to have a regular beer, like pregnant women for example, should be able to also enjoy the environment over a beer with their friends. And I agree, Emiliano, I agree…
“Good beer should always be enjoyed with good company,” he says in his blog. “…enjoy your beer with friends and those you love, and never drink and drive. Cheers!”
I am looking forward to visiting some of the places he reviews on “The Evening Grog”. Stay tuned, and I’ll let you know how Sofie and my husband enjoyed our trips.
In the mean time, check out “The Evening Grog”.
